Pastor Jim – We’re The Body
Making the news this week in the NFL is Chris Borland – a rookie linebacker from the San Francisco 49ers who retired after one season!
Chris was a 3rd round draft pick from Wisconsin that signed a 4-year deal that included a $617,000 signing bonus. The reason Chris is calling it quits is that he doesn’t want his life to end early or be a struggle due to on-field concussions! All that I can say is “WOW!” That took some courage to walk away from millions of dollars and the possibility of fame! Chris’s decision was all because he was concerned about his physical body being damaged for life.
The human body is an amazing piece of God’s creation. Look at some of these facts:
The average person produces enough saliva in their lifetime to fill 2 swimming pools. Every 60 seconds, your red blood cells do a complete circuit of your body. You have about half-a-million sweat glands that produce about a pint of sweat daily. Nerve Impulses travel at over 249 mi/hr. Our heart beats around 100,00 times every day or about 30 million times in a year.
Again all I can say is WOW!
Did you know the Bible compares the church of Jesus Christ with our physical bodies? Just as the physical body has many parts all working in unison, so the church body is made up of many parts that should compliment each other!
This Sunday I am going to finish our BULLS-EYE series by speaking about “The church” and it’s spiritual anatomy. We will define what it means to be the “body of Christ” and how a community of believers can live this out.
This message is one that you do not want to miss!
I hope to see you in one of our 3 morning services. Who knows, it could change your life for eternity!
