Pastor Jim – The Right Gratitude
Here is your Verse for today:
“Greater is He that is in you then he that is in the world” I John 4:4
This summer I have had the pleasure of helping coach our daughter Janae’s 10-year-old girls soccer team. What an adventure it has been! When we started out the season, the girls were definitely out of shape and had lost most of their foot skills.
Yet as the season has progressed and we are now in the last week of games, the girls have really improved. You see, it’s not just the skill-set that makes someone a good soccer player, it’s also their attitude. If these girls have positive attitudes, they seem to play smarter, run faster and shoot better!
So it is in the church world. Just because someone calls himself or herself a “Christian” in this life doesn’t necessarily mean they are going to “play the game right,” if you know what I mean. Church was never meant to be a life of rules and regulations. The Bible calls Christianity a life of faith that is lived out daily through the grace and mercy of Jesus Christ.
When you and I live a life motivated by God’s love, that allows us to hunger after God’s Word (the Bible) and, in turn, we use it as our manual for living!
This Sunday morning is going to be one to remember.
I am going to talk to you about DIY in the context of “PAINTING 101.” If you’re a painter, you know there are tricks to the trade that helps your final product last long and look great. Spiritually speaking, it is my prayer that after this Sunday – you will view painting in a whole new way!
I will also be talking about the recent Supreme Court ruling and how it impacts our church family at Rochester Assembly of God.
To help us celebrate the 4th of July, we will be showing a powerful video of a soldier who gave his life fighting for our country. Chad Dewhurst will share the story of his younger brother Nick and what it means to give all!
I hope to see you Sunday, who knows, it could change your life for eternity!
