Pastor Jim – Time To Maintain
Here is your verse for today: “Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” Ephesians 5:1-2
If you were in church last Sunday, in essence this is what we discussed:
1. That each one of us are called to imitate God in our daily lives.
2. We are called to live a life of love just as Christ has revealed His love to us!
Last night was the final game for my daughter – Janae’s 10 year-old soccer team. The girls were laughing and giggling and just having fun. At half-time they were squirting each other with their water bottles and if I didn’t know better, I would have thought we were at a pool party rather than a soccer game!
When I looked at these young girls, I asked myself, “Is this what it means to be imitators of God? Is this what it looks like to live life at the moment? No fear, no concerns, no expectations, they were just being the fun and happy girls God had created them to be!”
This Sunday I am going to talk to you about “DIY ROUTINE MAINTENANCE.”
The car you are currently driving needs to have a regular scheduled oil change. The transmission fluid has a scheduled maintenance plan that must be followed. If you take care of your car and keep the fluids fresh, your car will run better and last longer. Likewise, we as Christians must keep our spiritual fluids fresh. We must be men and women who walk in the fresh touch of the Holy Spirit daily. There is nothing like living this life in the fullness and the power of the Holy Spirit!
In order to be what God created us to be, we must have a regular “fill-up” of the Holy Spirit! We must keep our spiritual fluids “topped off!” If we do this, we too may act like 10-year old girls laughing and giggling and trusting that God has everything under control!
I hope to see you this Sunday as we continue with our DIY series.
Who knows, it could change your life for eternity!
